outside and it was missing. >> reporter: sandy's home security cameras catching the grinch in the act stealing her christmas lights from her home. >> he took the laser light beam and took an extension cord and the outside outlet. >> reporter: you you can see it right here, the man unplugs the laser projector, gathers up the cord and walks back to his car with with the stolen goods. >> he was 35 to 40. give me a break, you know. >> reporter: but just like the grinch, this suspect shrunken heart grew three times bigger after he saw himself in this surveillance video on the news. >> last night someone came into the situation and turned -- came into the station and turned the equipment in. >> reporter: the unnamed suspect turned himself in to lindh police. they say he apologized and felt really bad about taking the items and claims it was a prank. >> i give him credit for coming in and admitting that he made a mistake and we -- he does not have a criminal record and he

citizen and we're not going to pursue the matter. >> reporter: and neither is sandy. >> are you still mad at him? >> i forgive him. it's christmas. >> sandy in good spirits and says the suspect now has the christmas spirit back with him after his good deed when he decided to return the lights. though, she admits she was a little freaked out when she saw the video of him right up on her front porch. that's the latest live here in lindh, chris anderson, 7news. in dorchester, another family has their christmas lights stolen from the front yard. surveillance video caught the thief on camera grabbing the extensive lights and walking away with them. the family says they love hanging the lights up each year and don't care about the money. they just want their lights back >> a lynn man in court facing serious drug charges from a drug ring in maine worth about $3 million. >> and his attorney saying the charges should be dropped.

are outlined in this lynn police report, all in connection with this major drug bust here on the northshore. it was such a major drug bust that prosecutors wanted the suspect held on high bail, well over $2 million. the defense attorney wanted his client released. >> the commonwealth is requesting a $2.5 million cash bail. >> reporter: prosecutors arrested this man in lynn. >> this defendant has every incentive not to appear before the court. >> reporter: prosecutors say the 34-year-old was arrested after being indicted in maine this week in connection with a major drug ring. authorities identifying him as a key player and say it was afters his arrest police and federal agents uncovered everything from heroin to oxycotin, penalty no, cocaine and cash in his first-floor bedroom.

discovered, 80 pills of oxycotin, fentenyl. >> he would be held on that high bail. his family and friends denying comment. >> reporter: keno's attorney, who told the judge he's never heard of a $2.5 million bail says he still has a lot of questions in connection with his client's arrest. >> in his house, sounds like there. >> i don't know what they found there all i have is police report beside what they found. but there are issues how they got into the apartment, whether that's legal or illegal. >> for now keno is being hell on the $2.5 million cash bail and due back here at the courthouse next month. it's unclear when he'll be returned to maine to face the charges there. we're live in lynn, steve cooper, 7news. >> a major drug bust on the cape. steven manning facing several

state and local police found 200 grahams of xanex, ecstasy and marijuana in his hotel room. >> a serious car crash under investigation in canton. there's a jeep there. it flipped just off the on-ramp to 128 north from 95 this morning, about 8:00 in the morning. no word on what injuries or what caused the crash. we'll keep looking into that one. >> police investigating a home invasion in dorchester today. it all started when officers received reports of shots fired inside a house on washington street. police say there were no injuries and the investigation is ongoing. >> dozens of animals including horses and alpacas rescued from a home in stratton, new hampshire. the spca making two trips to move all of those animals to safety. investigators say they were neglected and malnourished and we're still waiting to hear if there will be any charges filed against the owner. decorations in danvers where families living in a state funded hotel were told their christmas trees had to go.

room inspector told her the tree is a fire hazard and if she didn't get rid it, she would get a non-appliance report. so she threw out the tree. but the next day there was a note telling tenant there is they could have christmas trees. >> so i picked it up in front of him, tossed it in the trash. my 6-year-old started crying and said santa claus has no place to put the presents. i'm grateful and happy that i have a roof over my head and happy that i have all my children but these children associate christmas trees with santa claus. >> state officials say they'll be working with the fire marshal to make sure everyone is safe and the decorations do not pose a fire hazard. following more news today, mixed emotions in kentucky after the governor there announced marriage licenses will no longer include the names of county clerks. governor matt levins' executive order comes in an attempt to protect the religious beliefs of kim davis and other local elected officials. davis, a county clerk, spent five days in jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. >> i voted for him for that purpose.

change laws just to support someone else's religious rights. >> davis did not budge on the marriage licenses, even after she served jail time but agreed to let her deputies issue the documents. have you seen the close call caught on camera in italy? a drone narrowly misses a downhill skier. the drone crashed just behind this austrian skier as he went through the gates down the mountain. there is an investigation underway. the skier said he had no idea that the drone fell until the race was complete. close call for a california driver when a giant boulder smashes flight his car. huge rock came crashing down on to the truck yesterday afternoon, pushed the car into another vehicle, luckily no one was hurt and the driver knows things could have gone far differently. >> it's kind of strange and i kind of like -- like what the [bleep]'s going on here. and then the rock hits me. definitely appreciate what i got going for me. so keep everything in

drones soaring, the faa is taking action to make sure the skies remain safe. federal workers visited big box retailers selling drones to educate workers on how to operate them properly. starting today owners need to register their drones or face civil penalties over $27,000 and criminal penalties of up to a quarter of a million dollars. hobbyists will learn those lessons at the academy. but that's not the only audience it's target approximately the school is partnering with the iners institute of technology to conduct research of drones and train first responders how to operate them. >> they can alert first responders to communicate much faster, they make decisions faster and then the likelihood of saving lives is there. >> reporter: many expecting the sky's the limit when it comes to the future of drones. >> the faa says the registration process is a way to educate users on how to fly safely and within the limits of the law including keeping drones more than 200 feet and 5 miles from

>> rudolph wisconsin is a small town in the center of the state, population, 439. but the name rudolph brings christmas cards from all over the state, country and world. >> i got some requests in this morning from virginia, from missouri, one from racine in wisconsin. >> reporter: rudolph's post office has been issuing a rudolph the red-nosed reindeer staff for 70 years. last year the rudolph stamp was issued to 20,000 people. >> people are very patient. sometimes they have to wait in line a little bit longer than they would normally in rudolph. >> reporter: about 1,000 cards a day come through the little post office. on the second saturday in december, the office releases the stamp for 30 days. it's a country christmas celebration. >> we sent about 12,000 cards out that were all hand canceled that one particular day. >> not every card can be hand stamped though and rudolph is already going out of its way. rachel makes a trip to rudolph twice a week in december and be sends the cards to relatives throughout the country.

rainy facility has tonight. temperatures will be in the 50s. so no concern of freezing rain or frozen precipitation. record warmth tomorrow but there are signs next week. pattern is gonna turn colder and that might offer the chance at some snow and winter precipitation tuesday of next week. radar right now nothing but rain and some steadier pockets of rain showing where we -- back to western mass showing the green and yellow, western mass, western connecticut. our weather system is actually a warm front trying to move through. and usually in december these warm fronts make no progress in new england. they get stuck but this one actually will cruise through overnight tonight and in northern new england during the a day tomorrow. down the 95 corridor, rain, downpour asks a few thunderstorms at this time through the mid atlantic states is we may have a rumble or two of thunder here in new england later on tonight and early tomorrow morning. nothing significant. 11:00 tonight, this is what we think the doppler will look like.

if you have travel plans late this evening and overnight tonight, it will be a slow go. i think this weather system coming at us tonight and early tomorrow morning has a little more moisture. yesterday's rainfall, most towns about a half an inch or less and the rain on the way for tonight, closer to an inch of rain, likely. by the time winds down, 6:00 or 7:00 tomorrow morning. here is the warmer air. 40s in new england and you jump on the other side of that front and the numbers are into the 60s. pittsburgh at 63. and d.c. at 64. so through the day tomorrow, record warmth on a christmas eve. a lot of clouds, few peeks of sunshine, and there might actually a sprinkle or two, but if you have outdoor plans tomorrow, playing golf? yeah, it looks okay. temps running in the middle and upper 60s. the city around 69 tomorrow, norwood at 70 degrees. the record in the city by the way is 61. down through buzzard's bay, lakeville and out on the cape and the islands, 50s and 60s. merrimack valley mid-60s tomorrow with more clouds than sun.

the sun but i think we'll see a few peeks of sun for sure. fitchburg at 68. a lovely spring day tomorrow on december 24th. chatham at 59. so again, as we work into christmas day, that also offers a lot of clouds, but still warm. not record warmth, but close. the record 65, and we'll be in the upper 50s to the lower 60s on friday. past years we saw rain last year wth warm conditions. and then a couple of years ago we had a couple of snow flurries. in fact, you go back to 2011, 12, and 13, all of them offering flurries. years. 7 on 7 forecast, sunday near 60 degrees. monday, there you go. there's your colder pattern beginning to take shape with a mix of clouds and sunshine. mid-30s and still a ways out there but there are signs that we could have snow that changes over to rain tuesday. that might be a messy day in southern new england and northern new england. temperatures on tuesday, 30s to around 40.

so no snow? that's a good deal if you're trying to get somewhere. gas prices are down and joe, how is the drive? >> all good news right now. southbound on the expressway, though, it is sluggish and slow going. usually close to an hour ride though from boston down into braintree. today we're lucking out a little bit. only about a half more you are or so from the tunnel down to the braintree route 128. so not too bad. 128 of course hitting up down by the malls, seeing a lot of increasing volume right here too on 128 northbound coming up past route 3 and the burlington area trying to get by route 93 and eventually up towards route 1. earlier problems at route 1 in saugus now. and heading downtown, here we go, the pretty lights on the zakim bridge and brake lights underneath it. 93 northbound dealing with the delay here up into the medford area but southbound not moving too badly. those headlights working their
